Eric BlumÕs resin, wax, and silk paintings
reveal themselves over time, like the subtle glimpses seen from the corner of
your eye. Each coat acts like a
filmy veil, a translucent obstruction of vague forms that impress upon the
viewer a multitude of subconscious references. The layers of BlumÕs paintings serve as
markers of time, one layer applied per day, recording imbedded flashes of
perception and memory. The mixture
of thick resin or beeswax poured over thin sheets of silk, challenges the
physicality of the materials.
The smooth surfaces wrap around the edges, quietly enclosing the
fleeting moment. |
